York County and the surrounding area are home to a variety of farms offering seasonal pick-your-own opportunities throughout the year—from spring strawberries and summer berries to fall apples, pumpkins and flowers.

Before you go: PYO availability can change quickly due to weather, crop conditions and how much fruit has already been picked. Always check the farm’s website or social media page before heading out for current picking dates, hours, prices and field conditions.

🍎 Tips for a Successful PYO Trip

✔ Check before you go. Always look for the farm's latest picking update before leaving home.

✔ Bring the right shoes. Fields and orchards can be muddy, uneven and wet.

✔ Dress for the weather. Hats, sunscreen, bug spray and water are good ideas during summer picking.

✔ Bring containers only if the farm allows them. Some farms provide their own containers or have specific size requirements.

✔ Pick only what you plan to take home. PYO farms rely on guests being respectful of the crops.

✔ Make a day of it! Many local farms offer farm markets, baked goods, playgrounds, wagon rides, corn mazes, festivals and other family activities.

✔ Don't forget the camera! A day spent picking fruit together makes some pretty great family memories.

When you pick your own, you're not just getting fresh fruit—you're supporting local farmers and helping preserve the agricultural heritage of York County.

So grab the kids, bring your basket and make a day of it! Happy picking! 🍓🍎🎃
